WPXI-TV’s Mike Holden has been cleared to return to work next week.

In this week’s episode of TribLive Extra’s “Pittsburgh Pop” podcast, host Tim Benz and TV Talk columnist Rob Owen discuss Pittsburgh pop culture news of the moment, including WPXI-TV reporter Mike Holden returning to the air after a medical leave.

I’M BACK!! Medically cleared. No surgery! Can’t thank you guys enough. I’ll see ya on @WPXI Monday. And let’s be honest—the daytime TV has been lackluster without Wendy & way less entertaining without Meghan fighting on the View. And why is Springer a judge now??? ???? pic.twitter.com/iiC0eFzMHZ

They also discuss the shooting of a cinematographer on the set of a low-budget Alec Baldwin movie and what it might mean for the future of real guns on film and TV sets.

One of the stars of “Friends” passed away over the weekend, leading to an outpouring of memories from his co-stars.

Will Netflix’s Dave Chappelle controversy end now that the streamer’s CEO has owed up to internal communication failures?

And Benz describes why he likes the new sports meets true crime documentary series “Bad Sport” on Netflix.
