With his college season finished, Mark Goetz returned to Greensburg to play his home course. Make that, overtake his home course.

Goetz carved up a career round Monday — and had a Memorial Day to remember – with a course-record 10-under par 60 at Hannastown Golf Club.

A sophomore at West Virginia, Goetz flirted with the magic No. 59 as he made 12 birdies, four pars and two bogeys from the back tees to edge past Dan Obremski in the club record book. Obremski, who currently plays on the PGA Tour LatinoAmerica, shot 61 in 2013.

Goetz, who graduated from The Kiski School and won a Pennsylvania Independent School Athletic Association title in 2016, was playing with Hannastown professional Craig Mankins, Jeff Mankins and Matt D’Amico.

Hannastown plays as a par 70 and 6,668 yards from the gold tees.

Goetz averaged 73.7 strokes in 15 rounds this season for the Mountaineers. He shot a 66 during a tournament last year as a freshman.
