Pitt and West Virginia basketball teams will play the last of a four-game series Nov. 13 at the WVU Coliseum in Morgantown.

The series, negotiated in 2016 by former Pitt athletic director Scott Barnes and West Virginia’s Shane Lyons, ended a five-year period in which the two long-standing rivals did not play each other.

West Virginia won the first three, 69-60 in 2017, 69-59 in 2018 and 68-53 last year and owns a four-game winning streak against the Panthers. Before that, Pitt had won four in a row, including a 98-95 triple-overtime classic Feb. 12, 2010, at the Petersen Events Center.

The teams have met 187 times, with the Mountaineers owning an 98-88 advantage, including 26-10 in Morgantown. It’s the longest series Pitt has played against any opponent.

Both schools confirmed Monday that they have interest in renewing the series beyond 2020. No date has been formalized.

Also, West Virginia will serve as host for defending Northeast Conference tournament champion Robert Morris on Dec. 9. It will be the 22nd meeting between the schools and the first since an 82-49 West Virginia victory Dec. 7, 2010. WVU leads the all-time series, 19-2.

The Mountaineers also will host Fairleigh Dickinson (Nov. 10), Stony Brook (Nov. 17), Bowling Green (Nov. 20), Youngstown State (Dec. 22) and Miami (Dec. 29).

They will play in the Battle 4 Atlantis tournament in Paradise Island, Bahamas, Nov. 25-27, and also will play a road game at Purdue (Dec. 13).
