The Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins have signed forward Samuel Houde to a one-year American Hockey League (AHL) contract for the 2021-22 season.

Houde, 21, completed a five-year career at the junior level with the Chicoutimi Sagueneens of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League (QMJHL). During the 2020-21 season, Houde served as Chicoutimi’s captain and was fourth on the team in scoring with 28 points (nine goals, 19 assists) in 29 games.

A native of Blainville, Quebec, Houde (6-foot, 172 pounds) was a fifth-round selection (No. 133 overall) of the Montreal Canadiens in the 2018 NHL draft but never signed with that team.
