Tim Benz and Mark Madden return for this week’s edition of “Unfiltered” on TribLive’s Facebook page and say the fun has been sucked out of sports.

Madden says that if sports wants to sacrifice the fun element to get the social message out, that’s fine, but then it’s not fun to watch. He goes on to question whether sports will ever be fun again.

Benz and Madden also discuss how the NBA could be trading popularity for the promotion of social messages. Benz also asks what impact the NBA is making.

Madden and Benz also talk about comments made by New York Giants Saquon Barkley about a possible game boycott. What impact could that have on the NFL.

Madden also mentions how the talk of social messages and sports underscores what sports is right now. It’s not scores, not stats, not plays, it’s not fun.

The guys also discuss the fallout from the Penguins trade for Kasperi Kapanen. They weigh the price of the trade. Madden doesn’t like to give up first round picks.

The guys also talk about what they are hearing out of Steelers training camp, revel possibility of the Philadelphia Flyers’ elimination and answer some reader comments.
