Mark Madden and Tim Benz discuss the Pittsburgh Steelers season-opening 23-16 win over the Buffalo Bills on Sunday on this week’s edition of “Unfiltered” on TribLIVE’s Facebook page.

While he tries not to judge too much based on Week 1, Madden says that the Bills reverted back to the same old Bills. After being lauded as a top AFC team, the Bills went back to being the Bills.

But the Steelers defense had a great game. Madden said that T.J. Watt had a huge impact on the game and proved his worth after signing the mega-contract.

Cameron Heyward also had a big day on the defense.

But while the defense played well, the Steelers offense was not good. Madden says that the offensive lines couldn’t run-block at all. Najee Harris was on the field for every play, but didn’t get great numbers. And Ben Roethlisberger’s throws didn’t look strong.

Benz says he saw a lot of missed connections between Roethlisberger and Harris in the passing game.

And Madden thinks Steelers should play Chase Claypool as the top receiver.

Madden and Benz also discuss other games in the NFL, the Penguins and the Pirates, and they answer viewers’ comments and questions.
