The Penguins’ season is over.
The Montreal Canadiens, the 24th seed and last team in the NHL’s expanded format, defeated the Penguins, 2-0, in Game 4 of their qualifying-round series on Friday and eliminated Pittsburgh from Stanley Cup playoff consideration.
