London could come calling for the Super Bowl, according to NFL commissioner Roger Goodell.

Goodell said at a recent fan forum he wouldn’t rule out London one day hosting the NFL’s title game, ESPN reported.

“It is not impossible, and it is something that has been discussed before,” Goodell said at the event in London last week.

An overseas Super Bowl is not expected to happen in the near future, however.

“I think being able to play it in one of our cities — it’s at a huge economic boost to those cities,” Goodell said, according to ESPN.

“Our fans live in those cities also. I think that is important. Not that we do not have great fans here [in London]; we do. So as the international series develops, maybe that is a possibility as we play more games here.”

London hosts NFL games every season, with the Baltimore Ravens’ 24-16 win over the Tennessee Titans on Sunday marking the third week in a row that a game took place there. The Jacksonville Jaguars won back-to-back games over the Atlanta Falcons and Buffalo Bills the previous two weeks.

The Jets most recently played in London in 2021, when they lost to the Falcons, while the Giants beat the Green Bay Packers there last year.

Germany is scheduled to host two NFL games this year, while a game took place in Mexico City last season.

The NFL generally puts the Super Bowl in warm-weather cities or in those with domed stadiums, though Super Bowl XLVIII took place at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, N.J., in February 2014.

The next three Super Bowls are scheduled to be held in Las Vegas in 2024; New Orleans in 2025; and Santa Clara, Calif., in 2026.

“At the end of the day, I think right now our formula will stay the same about playing [Super Bowls] in cities that have franchises,” Goodell said.
