The Rudolph Cupcake was launched by Oakmont Bakery on Wednesday.

As soon as the Pittsburgh Steelers secured a playoff spot, Samantha Serrao knew Oakmont Bakery needed a new football-related treat.

The Rudolph Cupcake was born — a shoutout to quarterback Mason Rudolph ahead of Sunday’s wild-card game against the Buffalo Bills.

“It was kind of like a group effort,” said Serrao, social media director at Oakmont Bakery.

The cupcakes began selling Wednesday, and Serrao said they already have garnered a lot of attention.

“Rudolph, won’t you guide us to the Super Bowl?” was the catchphrase Oakmont Bakery used to advertise the new sweet treat on Facebook.

Rudolph hasn’t lost a game since he was inserted into the Steelers’ lineup on Dec. 23.

“We plan on producing a good bit,” she said. “Anything that we put black and gold on, it sells.”

The bakery believes the Rudolph cupcakes will take off — “literally,” Serrao said.

As long as the Steelers are in the playoffs, she said, the cupcakes will be available for purchase.

“Potentially until the Super Bowl,” Serrao said. “That’s what we’re hoping for.”

The cupcake is a spin on the bakery’s seasonal Rudy Cupcake offered during Christmastime, with modifications.

The Rudolph Cupcake is yellow vanilla batter baked with chocolate chips. It has fudge filling and gold vanilla buttercream icing, and it’s dipped in chocolate ganache. Steelers accents, pretzel antlers and a fireball nose adorn the top.

When the cupcake is cut, Serrao said, it kind of looks black and gold on the inside.

They’re $3.50 each, and they can be purchased individually, in a two-pack or a six-pack.

Serrao said other Steelers-themed desserts are available as well, such as football cookies, Blitz-ki Paczki that are all black and gold with a white buttercream filling, cookie cakes with helmets, and donuts with black and gold sprinkles.
