Sunday’s travel day did not end well for the Steelers.
Despite having a 21-17 lead at halftime, the Steelers were unable to answer a steady rally by the Chicago Bears that earned them a 31-28 win.
Both teams were down some starters with Steelers utilizing backup quarterback Mason Rudolph in place of injured Aaron Rodgers, and the Bears playing without their top three linebackers.
Jason Lieser of the Chicago Sun-Times attributed the win to head coach Ben Johnson’s “common sense” decisions.
“The Bears are smarter since bringing him in, and he showed all the qualities they’ve been missing from their head coaches lately in their 31-28 victory Sunday against the Steelers,” Lieser reported.

Patrick Finley, also of the Chicago Sun-Times, said the win was secured despite a couple missteps by quarterback Caleb Williams.
“Williams was wild all game long, too, sailing some balls to receivers and throwing the ball at others’ feet,” Finley reported.
Early in the second quarter, Williams backpedaled into the end zone and fumbled away a touchdown to the Steelers.

Williams threw three touchdowns to contribute to the victory.
Chris Kwiecinski of Fox 32 Chicago graded the Bears’ offensive and defensive performances a “C.”
He said the offense seemed disconnected for most of the first half.
“The Bears pieced together some offensive rhythm at the end of the first half, and that carried into the second half,” Kwiecinski said. “The Bears scored 14 unanswered points to take a 31-21 lead on the Steelers…It was impressive how the offensive line owned the line of scrimmage.”
Despite being able to force two turnovers, Kwiecinski said the Bears struggled to adjust to the Steelers’ screen game.
