Stats: Led the Big Ten and tied for sixth nationally with 11 sacks last season. Added 15 ½ tackles for loss among 47 total tackles (33 solo) and finished three-year college career with 137 tackles (97 solo, 36 for loss), 21 sacks, four forced fumbles and seven passes defended in 31 games.
Hometown: Kauai, Hawaii

Tidbits: Was named consensus first-team All-Big Ten and third-team AP All-America in 2022. … A life sciences communication major, was All-Academic Big Ten in 2021. … Is the younger brother of guard Nate Herbig, whom the Steelers signed in free agency last month. The Herbigs join the Heywards (Cameron and Connor) as sets of brothers on the current roster. … Last season, the Steelers during minicamp had four sets of brothers on the roster. They played the regular season with two: the Heywards and Watts, but fullback Derek Watt remains unsigned. … Nick Herbig is also the second Wisconsin alum taken by the Steelers in this draft; they also have taken two players from Georgia. Position mate T.J. Watt, defensive lineman Isaiahh Loudermilk, second-round pick and defensive lineman Keeanu Benton and practice-squad safety Scott Nelson also are former Badgers; the five Wisconsin alums on the Steelers is the most of any college. … Herbig went to the same high school as NFL quarterbacks Marcus Mariota and Tua Tagovailoa, Saint Louis School in Honolulu. … Herbig had one of the fastest 10-yard split times (1.59 seconds) in the 40-yard dash among edge defenders at the NFL combine last month. His 25 bench-press reps also compared favorably among his peers who participated.
