Calvin Austin III did not take part in the only Pittsburgh Steelers practice leading up to Thursday’s game in Cincinnati, an indication that the receiver will miss a second consecutive contest because of a shoulder injury.

Austin joined special-teams captain Miles Killebrew — who suffered a significant knee injury during Sunday’s win against the Cleveland Browns — as the only Steelers players who missed Tuesday’s practice because of injury, according to the league-mandated injury report.

Austin suffered his ailment during the Steelers’ Sept. 28 game in Dublin.

Inside linebacker Malik Harrison on Tuesday returned to practice for the first time since suffering a knee injury during the Sept. 7 season opener. Harrison remains on the injured reserve list, but a 21-day clock in which he must be activated to the active roster was started Monday. That allowed him to take to the practice field.

A host of veterans were given the day off by coach Mike Tomlin: receiver DK Metcalf, cornerbacks Darius Slay and Jalen Ramsey, quarterback Aaron Rodgers, safety DeShon Elliott, outside linebacker T.J. Watt and defensive tackle Cameron Heyward.

The Steelers on Wednesday afternoon will release a status report for Thursday’s game at the AFC North rival Bengals.
