Steelers host possible 1st-round draft prospect CB Trey Amos, DL Elijah Roberts
Possible first-round pick Trey Amos joined an intriguing late-round defensive line prospect as those hosted by the Pittsburgh Steelers on Tuesday.
Amos, an Ole Miss cornerback, and SMU defensive lineman Elijah Roberts were allotted official visits to the UPMC Rooney Sports Complex as the Steelers ramp up preparations for the April 24-26 NFL draft.
Amos was a first-team all-SEC honoree last season, his fifth in college and first at Ole Miss after three seasons at Louisiana and 2023 at Alabama. Amos (6-1, 195) in 2024 had three interceptions, 13 pass breakups and 3 ½ tackles for loss for the Rebels.

The Steelers are in need of a young cornerback; one of their projected starters on the outside this season is 34-year-old Darius Slay.
Roberts is a player who had 17 ½ sacks over two seasons at SMU after beginning his college career at Miami. Measured at 6-foot-4, 285 pounds, Roberts is listed as an edge defender by most draft sites (even the NFL’s official site). The Steelers classified him as a defensive lineman, and that is where he fits in in their scheme.
#SMU Elijah Roberts, a versatile defensive linemen to played on the edge and as a 3 technique, has a top 30 visit scheduled with the #Eagles, per Joseph. He’s the 5th know visit, and first defensive player. Love his power profile.

A team captain in 2024, Roberts helped SMU to the College Football Playoff.
Each team is permitted to host 30 draft prospects, with exemptions made for those who are local.
