The Pittsburgh Steelers dipped into the USFL for one of their latest roster additions.

The Steelers on Tuesday added 6-foot-1, 187-pound cornerback Nevelle Clarke, who spent the past two seasons with the New Orleans Breakers.

Then, the Steelers added running back Xazavian Valladay and waived running back John Lovett.

Valladay was signed as an undrafted free agent by the Houston Texans and given a $175,000 signing bonus. Houston waived Valladay, and he signed with the Steelers after clearing waivers.

Valladay played at Wyoming and Arizona State. In 2022, he led the Pac-12 with 16 rushing touchdowns and rushed for 1,192 yards with Arizona State. He also caught a pair of touchdown passes.

Valladay also topped 1,000 yards rushing twice at Wyoming. Lovett was injured in his only practice with the Steelers and was cut after his return to health.

Clarke, 26, had two interceptions this past season. He had one in his inaugural USFL season.

One day earlier, the Steelers signed a cornerback, Lavert Hill, from the XFL, the other spring football league.

Clarke joined the Minnesota Vikings in 2020 as an undrafted free agent but was among the team’s final roster cuts. He spent the 2021 playing in the developmental The Spring League.

Clarke attended college at Central Florida.
