Pittsburgh Penguins forward Sidney Crosby did not participate in Thursday’s intrasquad scrimmage in Cranberry because of undisclosed reasons.

Crosby has not participated in any scrimmages or practices since abruptly leaving Saturday’s scrimmage. He has been skating prior to practices, however.

Citing the NHL’s new rules on withholding a players’ medical information during the coronavirus pandemic, the team has declined to comment on Crosby’s status. Following the scrimmage, coach Mike Sullivan indicated Crosby skated earlier in the day on Thursday.

A source indicated to the Tribune-Review that Crosby’s absence has been for precautionary reasons for a minor physical ailment.

Thursday’s scrimmage ended in a 3-3 tie. Forwards Patrick Jared McCann and Jason Zucker scored for what was termed as Team Black. Goals by forwards Anthony Angello, Teddy Blueger and Conor Sheary accounted for Team Gold’s offense.

Goaltenders Tristan Jarry (Gold) and Matt Murray (Black) started and completed the scrimmage.
