New Kensington’s Skyy Moore, a Shady Side Academy graduate and rising sophomore wide receiver at Western Michigan in the Mid-American Conference, has been named to the preseason Biletnikoff Award watch list.
The Biletnikoff Award is presented each year to the nation’s top college receiver by the Tallahassee Quarterback Club Foundation.
This marks Moore’s first selection to a preseason watch list. He already has earned preseason first-team All-MAC honors by Athlon Sports and second-team recognition from Phil Steele.
In 13 games of his freshman season in 2019, Moore made 12 starts and caught 51 passes for 802 yards — 15.73 yards per reception — and scored three touchdowns.
He earned first-team All-MAC laurels and was the first MAC true freshman wide receiver to garner such distinction since 2014.

Also on the list is Penn State junior tight end Pat Freiermuth, a 2019 second-team All-American selection by both the American Football Coaches Association and The Athletic. He was voted to the All-Big Ten second team by the coaches and media.
The starter and team captain in 2019 caught seven touchdown passes. He owns 15 for his career, which ties him with Mike Gesicki (2014-17) for the PSU record for tight ends.
Freiermuth also is on the watch list for the John Mackey Award given annually to the most outstanding tight end.
Former Nittany Lion Bobby Engram won the Biletnikoff Award in 1994 and was a finalist in 1995.
Moore and Freiermuth are two of 55 players on the Biletnikoff watch list, which also includes 2019 winner Ja’Marr Chase from national champion LSU.
Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver James Washington won the award in 2017, and former University of Pittsburgh standouts Larry Fitzgerald and Antonio Bryant were the award recipients in 2003 and 2000, respectively.
The Biletnikoff Award trophy will be presented to the winner at an awards banquet in Tallahassee on March 6, 2021.
Penn State also had two players — Journey Brown and Noah Cain — named to the Doak Walker Award watch list. It will be given out to the nation’s top running back at the annual Home Depot College Football Awards Show.
Brown, a redshirt junior from Meadville, led Penn State with 890 rushing yards last season. He averaged 6.9 yards per carry and scored 12 touchdowns. He set a Penn State bowl record with 202 yards in the Cotton Bowl against Memphis.
Cain, a sophomore from Louisiana, ran for 443 yards and set a Penn State freshman record with eight rushing touchdowns.
Larry Johnson (2002) is the only Penn State player to win the Doak Walker Award.
