Schedule set for WPYFL Super Bowl this weekend

Western Pennsylvania Youth Football League’s Super Bowl Weekend will have a Westmoreland County feel for the Class AA championships Saturday.

Three Southmoreland teams, along with squads from Mt. Pleasant and Derry, will compete for titles this weekend at Trinity’s Hiller Field.

Southmoreland (8-1) will take on Mt. Pleasant (9-0) for the Division III (kindergarten to second grade) championship at 3 p.m.

At 5 p.m., Southmoreland (8-1) will face off against Eastern Conference rival Derry (9-0) for the Division II (third-fourth grade) crown.

Southmoreland (9-0) will meet Elizabeth Forward (8-1) for the Division I (fifth-sixth grade) championship at 7 p.m.

In the Class A games, also set for Hiller Field on Saturday, Beth-Center (8-1) plays Frazier (9-0) in Division III at 9 a.m., Beth-Center (9-0) plays Chartiers-Houston (8-0) in Division II at 11 a.m., and Union-Finley (7-1) takes on Beth-Center (8-0) in Division I at 1 p.m.

The Class AAA finals are Sunday, also at Hiller Field. Seneca Valley (8-1) and Washington (9-0) square off in Division III at 11 a.m. Trinity (8-1) plays Seneca Valley (10-0) in Division II at 1:30 p.m., and the Division I championship features Seneca Valley (7-1) vs. Trinity (9-0) at 4 p.m.
