Sal Frelick went undrafted out of high school but built his brand in college, watched his stock rise and became a sought-after prospect.

On Tuesday, the first-round draft pick became a millionaire.

Frelick, a Lexington (Mass.) product with ties to Greensburg, signed a contract with the Milwaukee Brewers. Terms of the deal were not disclosed, but MLB.com reported he picked up a $4 million signing bonus, which is higher than the pre-slotted value of $3,885,800 that goes to the 15th overall pick.

The left-handed hitting center fielder is the son of Jeff Frelick, a former Greensburg Central Catholic football and baseball player. Sal’s grandfather, Henry, was a quarterback at Greensburg Salem.

Sal Frelick, 21, earned All-ACC First Team honors after hitting .359 with six home runs and 27 RBIs. He also was named the ACC Defensive Player of the Year. Additionally, he garnered All America third-team recognition from Baseball America and was a semifinalist for the Golden Spikes Award.

Frelick earned 12 letters in high school and was a captain in football, baseball and hockey. A quarterback, he tossed 50 touchdown passes as a senior and was named the Gatorade Football Player of the Year for Massachusetts.
