Bob Lilley, coach of the Pittsburgh Riverhounds, was named the USL Championship Coach of the Month for May, the league announced Wednesday.
Lilley guided the Riverhounds to five straight victories last month, including two wins over MLS teams in the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup.
After wins over the New England Revolution and Columbus Crew, the Hounds lost to Cincinnati in the Open Cup quarterfinals Tuesday night.
Also in May, the Hounds won league matches against Birmingham, Las Vegas and Loudoun and moved into second place in the Eastern Conference.
Lilley, who recently earned his 150th league victory, is the USL Championship’s all-time wins leader in the modern era.
The USL Championship Coach of the Month award is voted on by the USL Championship national media panel and the USL Championship technical committee.
