Albert Dikwa scored a goal and helped set up another to lead the Pittsburgh Riverhounds to a 2-1 victory over New York Red Bull II on Friday night at Highmark Stadium.

It was the third straight win for the Riverhounds (5-3-2).

The Riverhounds took a 1-0 lead in the 14th minute on a goal by Todd Wharton. After Dikwa hit the left post with a shot, Kenardo Forbes collected a loose ball on the left side and sent a cross to Wharton, who buried a shot from just inside the penalty area.

It was the 27th career assist for Forbes, who moved into a tie with Kevin Kerr atop the team’s all-time assists list.

New York (2-6-2) tied the score about 12 minutes later when a corner kick bounced off the hands of goalkeeper Danny Vitiello and pinballed across the goal line for an own goal.

The Riverhounds retook the lead on Dikwa’s goal in the 41st minute. Forbes chipped a pass ahead to Russell Cicerone at the left post, and he flicked a header onto the foot of Dikwa in the goal mouth to make it 2-1.

The Riverhounds will be back in action at 7 p.m. Wednesday when they visit Loudoun United FC in Virginia.
