Former Pittsburgh Pirates manager Clint Hurdle is retiring from baseball, according to Kevin Acee of the San Diego Union-Tribune.
Hurdle, who coached the Pirates nine years, was fired this season after going 69-92. It was the worst season Pittsburgh had since 2010.

According to Acee’s reporting, Hurdle considered becoming the Padres hitting coach under new skipper Jayce Tingler before opting to step away from the game.
The Pirates went to the postseason three straight years from 2013-15. Before Pittsburgh, Hurdle spent eight years with the Colorado Rockies and led them to a National League pennant in 2007.
The Pirates have yet to name a replacement for the 62-year-old Hurdle.
