The Pittsburgh Riverhounds continued to struggle on the road, losing 1-0 to the Rio Grande Valley FC Toros on their first trip to face the club based on Edinburg, Texas.

The Riverhounds (7-5-3) are 2-5-2 on the road this season. They’re 0-5-1 in their last six matches away from Highmark Stadium. They’re in fifth place in the USL Championship’s Eastern Conference.

Rio Grande Valley scored the game’s lone goal on a nifty play in the 34th minute. Luka Malesevic sent a long cross from the right wing to Ricky Ruiz at the top of the box for a one-touch shot into the right side of the net.

The Riverhounds outshot Rio Grande Valley, 10-5, and had their chances to score. Notably, Albert Dikwa’s attempt at a tying goal in second-half stoppage time was waved off on an offside call.

The good news for the Riverhounds: They’ll play three of their next four games at home, starting with a matchup against the Tampa Bay Rowdies at 7 p.m. next Saturday.
