Pitt to host Sun Bowl watch party at the Pete after basketball meets North Carolina

Pitt officials are hoping their fans will spend all afternoon at Petersen Events Center on Dec. 30.
The university’s athletic department will serve as host for a Sun Bowl watch party after Pitt basketball plays North Carolina. Basketball tips at noon, followed by football vs. UCLA from El Paso, Texas, at 2 p.m. The game will be shown on several TV screens throughout the Pete, and people attending the basketball game will have an opportunity to stick around and watch football. The only possible glitch will occur if the basketball game goes into overtime.
Actually, both teams have something in common. Pitt’s basketball team will take a 9-4 record into its matchup with the Tar Heels while football is trying to finish 9-4 with a victory against the Bruins.
Those people sitting in the Campus View Club may watch the football game there. Courtside Club ticket holders will have the opportunity to watch from there or move to the Campus View Club.
The football game also will be shown on the center video board, on all concourse TVs and on the video board in the Thomas E. Richards Family Lobby.
Food and alcohol sales will continue throughout the basketball game and until the end of the third quarter of the bowl game.
