After going undefeated in the ACC for the first time, the Pitt volleyball team added its first ACC Player of the Year when junior outside hitter Kayla Lund earned the award Monday. Lund ranked fourth in the conference in kills per set (3.59) and fifth in points per set (4.14). She had eight matches with a kill/dig double-double.

The Pasadena, Calif., native was joined on the all-ACC first team by senior middle hitter Layne Van Buskirk and junior opposite hitter Chi Ndee. It was Van Buskirk’s second first-team nod and Ndee’s first.

Setter Lexis Akeo was named to the second team and all-freshman team. Senior outside hitter Stephanie Williams and senior libero Hali Hillegas also were named to the second team. With her selection, Williams became the program’s first four-time all-ACC honoree.

The second-ranked Panthers (29-1) open NCAA Tournament play Friday at Petersen Events Center against Howard. The Panthers are the tournament’s No. 6 overall seed.
