Pitt lost some of its depth on the offensive line when tackle Carson Van Lynn placed his name in the NCAA transfer portal.

Van Lynn (6-foot-5, 295 pounds) was a versatile player for the Panthers in his four seasons, moving between offensive tackle and tight end.
But he was the fourth tackle candidate this spring when coach Pat Narduzzi declared Carter Warrren, Gabe Houy and Matt Goncalves were competing for two starting positions.
A three-star prospect from Worthington, Ohio, Van Lynn was rated the No. 2 offensive tackle in Ohio by Scout.com. He signed with Pitt in 2017 as a membe of its 24-man recruiting class.
Van Lynn appeared in 36 games, with eight starts, in his time at Pitt. He was in the starting lineup in five games as a tight end in 2018 and three more at tackle last season (N.C. State, Virginia Tech and Clemson).
He will have two years of eligibility at his new school, thanks to the NCAA establishing a blanket waiver for the 2020 season.
