Pitt coach Pat Narduzzi added a third Florida prospect to his class of 2021 when inside linebacker Derrveron Maxwell-Black of St. Petersburg pledged to enroll next year. Maxwell-Black made the announcement Thursday on Twitter.

Rated a three-star recruit by Rivals.com, Maxwell-Black is the second linebacker in Pitt’s class, joining Preston Lavant of Cordele, Ga. Pitt has verbal commitments from 17 players who live in eight states, and its class is ranked 21st in the nation, fifth in the ACC, by Rivals.

Maxwell-Black, 6-foot, 210 pounds, has scholarship offers from nine schools, including Syracuse and Illinois. He recorded 83 tackles, 16 for a loss, four sacks and three fumble recoveries last season for Lakewood High School, according to Rivals.
