Pitt pitchers Matt Gilbertson, Billy Corcoran named All-ACC

For the first time, Pitt baseball can boast two pitchers named All-ACC in one season.
Starting pitchers Matt Gilbertson and Billy Corcoran were named second- and third-team selections, respectively, giving coach Mike Bell nine overall in his four years as Pitt’s coach.
Gilbertson, who is Pitt’s No. 1 starter, leads the Panthers in ERA (3.55), WHIP (1.14) and strikeouts (87) while posting an 8-3 record. A right-handed senior, he leads the ACC in innings pitched (91 1/3) and strikeouts looking (37) and is tied for first in starts (14), tied for third in least walks allowed (11) and tied for fourth in victories while standing sixth in strikeouts and 12th in ERA. His 1.08 walks-per-nine-innings is ninth in the nation.
In his past 10 ACC starts, Gilbertson has 56 strikeouts and only seven walks in 74 2/3 innings.
Corcoran, a right-handed junior, leads the ACC in least number of walks (eight) while posting a 7-5 record, 4.24 ERA and 1.15 WHIP. His walks per innings rate (0.89) is fourth in the nation.
Seeded No. 11 for the ACC Tournament, Pitt will play No. 7 Georgia Tech at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Truist Field in Charlotte, N.C.
