Pitt head coach Pat Narduzzi goes off on officials against Georgia Tech in the fourth quarter Saturday, Oct. 1, 2022, at Acrisure Stadium.

Nearly three weeks before the end of spring practice and nine months before signing day, Pitt reached double digits in 2024 verbal commitments Tuesday when prep offensive lineman Adham Abouraya pledged to enroll next year.

Coach Pat Narduzzi’s 10-man class is now ranked No. 9 in the nation and tied for third in the ACC with Wake Forest, according to Rivals.com. Pitt is one of only three programs with at least 10 verbals for 2024, joining Georgia and LSU, each of whom have 11.

Abouraya (6-foot-5, 285 pounds) is the fifth player from Pennsylvania to verbally commit to Pitt. He will be a senior this year at Downingtown East High School in Exton. At this time last year, Pitt had only one verbal commitment from the class of 2023 — wide receiver Zion Fowler, who decommitted and later recommitted before signing a letter of intent with the Panthers in December.

A three-star prospect (per Rivals), Abouraya is the second offensive lineman in Pitt’s class, joining Jiavani Cooley of Erie’s Cathedral Prep. Pitt’s other Pennsylvania prospects are Central Catholic defensive end Ty Yuhas, Central York running back Juelz Goff and four-star defensive tackle Jahsear Whittington of Imhotep Charter in Philadelphia.

Abouraya, ranked No. 30 overall in Pennsylvania and the ninth offensive lineman in the state, also has scholarship offers from Maryland, Rutgers, Syracuse and West Virginia.
