Pitt’s recent recruiting surge continued Saturday when coach Pat Narduzzi received a verbal commitment from three-star offensive lineman Jiavani Cooley of Erie Cathedral Prep.

Cooley (6-foot-6, 265 pounds) is the third member of the class of 2024 to commt to Pitt in the past 10 days. The Panthers’ seven-man class is ranked No. 16 in the nation — fourth in the ACC — by Rivals.com. He also has offers from Power 5 schools Boston College, Maryland and Syracuse.

Ranked as the 29th overall prospect in Pennsylvania by Rivals, Cooley joins tight end Eric Ingwerson, defensive tackles Francis Brewu and Jahsear Whittington, defensive end Ty Yuhas, running back Juelz Goff and wide receiver Ric’Darious Farmer in Pitt’s class. Farmer and Whittington are the only four-star recruits in the group, according to Rivals’ rankings.

Nine months before signing day, Narduzzi has commitments from seven high school seniors. Cooley is the first offensive lineman.
