In a clip posted online, Pitt defensive lineman Devin Danielson can be seen slamming his helmet against his head several times as teammates look on in astonishment and horror.

But the incident wasn’t a first for Danielson, according to teammate SirVocea Dennis.

“Everybody is passionate for the game. Things happen.” Dennis said. “That’s just how he handles it. Devin’s good. That’s not the first time he did that.”

Dennis said Danielson wasn’t injured either before or after the sideline episode. “He’s fine.”

ESPN College Football’s Twitter account posted the video captured on the sidelines during the 4th quarter of Pitt’s 42-16 victory over Miami on Saturday at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami Gardens, Fla.

At the beginning of the clip Danielson is talking to teammate linebacker Tylar Wiltz.

Then as Danielson storms down the sidelines he slams his helmet against the turf before violently striking his head with the helmet three times, then putting it back on his head.

Danielson is a redshirt senior who graduated from Thomas Jefferson in 2018 and was selected one of Pittsburgh Tribune-Review “Terrific 25” in 2016.
