BRADENTON, Fla. — The Pittsburgh Pirates continued to address their starting pitching Saturday by signing a former division foe in right-hander Chase Anderson to a minor-league contract with an invite to spring training, a source confirmed to TribLive.

Anderson, 36, has a 59-56 record, 4.35 ERA and 1.30 WHIP in 200 career starts over 10 seasons with Arizona, Milwaukee, Toronto, Philadelphia, Tampa Bay and Colorado.

He was 1-6 with a 5.42 ERA and 1.43 WHIP and surrendered 17 home runs in 19 appearances last season, making 17 starts for the Rockies after being claimed off waivers from the Rays on May 12. Colorado was 8-9 in his starts.

Anderson was sidelined for more than a month by right shoulder inflammation last summer but returned to go 1-2 with a 3.86 ERA in 25 2/3 innings over his final five starts. He tossed seven no-hit innings against the San Francisco Giants on Sept. 15, giving up five walks and allowing one earned run on a fielder’s choice on 101 pitches.
