Michael Feliz’s season appears to be over.

The Pittsburgh Pirates placed the right-hander on the 45-day injured list Monday with a right forearm/elbow strain.

Feliz was injured Saturday night while pitching against the Chicago Cubs in Wrigley Field.

“We realized we need to have some more tests run,” manager Derek Shelton said. “We’re going to evaluate it, probably get another opinion on it and go from there.”

The Pirates replaced Feliz on the roster with right-handed pitcher Yacksel Rios. He will be available Monday against the Minnesota Twins at Target Field.

Rios has a career 5-2 record, 6.20 ERA and 1.622 WHIP in three seasons, mostly with the Philadelphia Phillies.

He pitched in 10 games for the Pirates last season, compiling a 1-0 record and 5.23 ERA, with 10 strikeouts, while allowing 10 hits and six earned runs in 10 1/3 innings.
