Pirates farm report for Sept. 18, 2021: Michael Chavis homers on rehab stint with Indy

INDIANAPOLIS (Triple-A, 56-62) outslugged St. Paul (Twins), 9-5. DH Michael Chavis (.263) in Triple-A rehabbing an elbow injury, went 3 for 5 with his 12th homer of the season. 3B Hunter Owen (.224) went 2 for 5 with two long balls, his 18th and 19th, and drove in three runs. C Taylor Davis (.247) went 3 for 4 with a double and three RBIs. RHP John O’Reilly (5.92) started and went three innings, allowing two runs on two hits with two strikeouts. RHP Keury Mella (2-0, 7.00) gave up three runs, two earned, in three innings and picked up the win. LHP Cam Alldred (1.23) worked three scoreless innings, allowing five hits, to earn the save, his first.

Next: Sunday vs. St. Paul (Twins), 1:35 p.m.

ALTOONA (Double-A, 58-58) dusted Bowie (Orioles), 9-2. SS Oneil Cruz (.292) and CF Matthew Fraizer (.291) each doubled twice. Cruz went 3 for 5 with a run scored. Fraizer was 3 for 5 with a run scored and an RBI. 2B Ji-hwan Bae (.278) went 2 for 4 and hit his seventh home run, a two-run shot, and stole his 20th base. 3B Dylan Busby (.143) was 1 for 4 with his first home run. LHP Trey McGough (6-5, 3.41) allowed one run on two hits and two walks in six innings. He fanned eight. RHP Will Gardner (7.71) threw two scoreless innings of relief.

Next: Sunday at Bowie (Orioles), 1:35 p.m.

GREENSBORO (High-A, 73-46) lost to Hudson Valley (Yankees), 5-4, in 12 innings. SS Liover Peguero (.270) went 1 for 5 with a double, an RBI and two stolen bases, his 27th and 28th. 3B Jared Triolo (.305) was 2 for 5 with his 15th home run. 1B Will Mathiessen (.243) went 2 for 5 with a run scored. RHP J.C. Flowers (4.23) started and gave up two runs on four hits in three innings. RHP Garrett Leonard (5.81) pitched four scoreless innings of relief, giving up three hits and fanning three. RHP Oliver Garcia (4.42) worked three innings, giving up an unearned run but no hits. RHP Enmanuel Mejia (1-1, 1.10) gave up two unearned runs in 1.1 innings to take the loss.

Next: Sunday at Hudson Valley (Yankees), 4:35 p.m.

BRADENTON (Low-A, 71-47) was trounced by Lakeland (Tigers), 8-2. RHP Logan Hofmann (6-4, 3.59) started and gave up four runs, including a homer, on three hits in five innings. He walked five and struck out five. RHP Christian Charle (6.55) gave up four runs, one earned, in three innings of relief. RF Daniel Rivero (.248) went 3 for 3 with a triple and two RBIs. LF Jack Herman (.253) and SS Francisco Acuna (.204) singled and scored a run.
