INDIANAPOLIS (Triple-A, 1-1) lost 8-3 to Iowa (Cubs). After LF Dustin Fowler tied the game, 3-3, with a solo homer in the top of the eighth inning, reliever Nick Mears gave up five runs on two hits and three walks in the bottom half. Starter Beau Sulser lasted 2⅔ innings and allowed two runs on a pair of solo homers. He had four strikeouts and walked none. CF Travis Swaggerty, a 2018 first-round draft pick, singled in a run and 2B Connor Kaiser went 1 for 2 with a double and drew a pair of walks.

Next: Thursday at Iowa (Cubs), 8:08 p.m.

ALTOONA (Double-A , 0-2) lost 8-4 to Bowie (Orioles). Starting pitcher Travis MacGregor suffered the loss, allowing three runs on four hits with six strikeouts and no walks over 2⅓ innings. 3B Rodolfo Castro went 2 for 4 with a pair of doubles. 1B Mason Martin was 2 for 5 with an RBI and CF Jonah Davis finished 1 for 3 with a double and a walk. 2B Ji-wan Bae, CF Cal Mitchell and C Deon Stafford had a single each.

Next: Thursday vs. Bowie (Orioles), 6 p.m.

GREENSBORO (High-A, 1-1) won 8-4 over Hickory (Rangers). 2B Nick Gonzales, a 2020 first-round draft pick, hit a two-run homer in the seventh inning and finished 2 for 4. SS Liover Peguero led off the bottom of the first with a home run for his second homer in as many games. DH Jack Herman and RF Lolo Sanchez had a double apiece. Tahnaj Thomas started and went three innings, allowing one run with seven strikeouts and one walk in a no-decision. Bear Bellomy earned the win in relief by pitching 2⅔ hitless innings with three strikeouts and Oliver Garcia followed with two clean innings with three strikeouts to pick up his first save.

Next: Thursday vs. Hickory (Rangers), 6:05 p.m.

BRADENTON (Low-A, 0-2) lost 13-4 to Fort Myers (Twins). Starting pitcher Eddy Yean, who was acquired from the Nationals in the Josh Bell trade in December, lasted only a third of an inning in his Pirates minor league debut and gave up five runs on two hits, including a grand slam. Yean had three walks and one strikeout. C Endy Rodriguez,went 1 for 2 with a home run and scored two runs. 1B Wyatt Matthiessen was 3 for 5 with an RBI and CF Sergio Campana went 1 for 3 with a triple. DH Dariel Lopez and LF Sami Siani had a double apiece.
