Pirates farm report for May 3, 2022: Henry Davis homers in Greensboro win

INDIANAPOLIS (Triple-A, 13-11) was doubled up by Louisville (Reds), 6-3. LHP Nathan Kirby (1.42) started and threw two scoreless innings. So did RHP Max Kranick (2.70). RHP Shea Murray (18.00) and RHP Matt Eckelman (0-1, 10.13) each gave up two runs in an inning of relief. CF Travis Swaggerty (.194) went 2 for 3. 2B JI-hwan Bae (.257) went 1 for 3 and stole his seventh base. LF Canaan Smith-Njigba (.229) went 1 for 3 with his fourth steal and two runs scored. SS Oneil Cruz (.167) went 0 for 4.

Next: Wednesday vs. Louisville (Reds), 1:35 p.m.

ALTOONA (Double-A, 10-12) beat Erie (Tigers), 5-2. In a game shortened to six innings by rain, 2B Nick Gonzales (.209) continued to break out of an early season swoon by going 1 for 3 with a double and scored on a sac fly by SS Liover Peguero (.355) in the third. Peguero brought home an early run in the first on an RBI triple. CF Tucupita Marcano (.227) smacked a two-run double in the sixth to give the Curve a couple of insurance runs. RHP Mike Burrows (1.59) started, went 4.2 innings and allowed two runs on four hits and struck out six. RHP Tahnaj Thomas (1.04) entered the game to get one out in the fifth and allowed one hit and struck out one in the sixth to get the save.

Next: Wednesday at Erie (Tigers), 6:05 p.m.

GREENSBORO (High-A, 9-13) beat Asheville (Astros), 8-5. The Grasshoppers scored early off a two-run home run from DH Henry Davis (.343), his fourth, who ended his day 3 for 5. C Endy Rodriguez (.268) tripled in a run in the fourth and CF Matt Gorski (.268) hit a two-run homer in the fifth. Starter RHP Adrian Florencio (8.44) went five innings and allowed one run on one hit and struck out 11. Relievers RHP Santiago Flores (11.08) and RHP Garrett Leonard (9.24) allowed two runs on 2 and 1.2 innings pitched, respectively. RHP Cameron Junker came on with two outs in the ninth and allowed one hit and struck out one to earn his third save.

Next: Wednesday vs Asheville (Astros), 6:30 p.m.

BRADENTON (Low-A, 13-9) was dispatched by Tampa (Yankees), 4-1. RHP Duane Underwood Jr. (5.40), rehabbing a hamstring injury, started and got two outs, giving up a run on one hit with two walks. RHP Justin Meis (2-3, 4.50) of Bethel Park gave up two runs, one earned, on two hits in an inning. RF Rodolfo Nolasco (.206) went 3 for 4 with an RBI, recording three of the team’s four hits. C Wyatt Hendrie (.176) went 1 for 4.
