Pirates farm report for May 19, 2022: Greensboro’s Matt Gorski homers twice for 2nd straight game

INDIANAPOLIS (Triple-A, 19-18) split a doubleheader with Toledo (Tigers). The Mud Hens won the first game, 4-2. RHP Roansy Contreras (0-1, 2.66) started and went 5.2 innings, allowing three runs, two earned, on six hits and a walk with four strikeouts. SS Oneil Cruz went 1 for 1 with three walks and a run scored. 1B Mason Martin went 1 for 4 with a triple and a run scored. RF Cal Mitchell (.303) went 1 for 3 with an RBI.

Indianapolis won the second game, 8-4. Martin (.258) went 1 for 3 and hit a two-run homer, his sixth. Cruz (.195) went 1 for 3 with a double and an RBI. SS Ji-hwan Bae (.277) hit a bases-loaded pinch-hit triple in the sixth. LF Jared Oliva (.228) went 1 for 2 with a walk and two stolen bases. LHP Nathan Kirby started and recorded one out, giving up two runs on two hits with a walk. RHP Jerad Eickhoff (4.78) pitched 2.2 scoreless innings of relief with five strikeouts. RHP Cristofer Melenedez (2-1, 2.93) worked the final two innings to earn the win, giving up no runs on one hit with five strikeouts.

Next: Friday vs. Toledo (Tigers), 7:05 p.m.

ALTOONA (Double-A, 16-20) lost to Richmond (Giants), 5-4. 2B Nick Gonzales (.250) went 2 for 5 with a double and a home run, his fourth. DH Brendt Citta (.200) went 2 for 4 and hit his second home run. SS Liover Peguero (.321) went 1 for 4 with a double. LF Andres Alvarez (.281) went 1 for 2 with three walks and a run scored. RHP Colin Selby (0-2, 1.26) gave up a run in the top of the ninth to take a loss. RHP Carmen Mlodzinski (4.56) started and gave up three runs, one earned, on three hits and four walks in 2.1 innings.

Next: Friday vs. Richmond (Giants), 6 p.m.

GREENSBORO (High-A, 15-20) was humbled by Bowling Green (Rays), 12-3. DH Matt Gorski (.287) hit two home runs for the second straight game, going 2 for 4. He had homered in four straight games and has 14 for the season. 2B Yoyner Fajardo (.356) went 3 for 4. 1B Jacob Gonzalez (.516) was 1 for 4. RHP Sean Sullivan (0-2, 5.54) started and was touched up for seven runs on 10 hits in 3.2 innings.

Next: Friday vs. Bowling Green (Rays), 6:30 p.m.

BRADENTON (Low-A, 17-19) shut out Palm Beach (Cardinals), 4-0. RHP Carlos Jimenez (1-2, 1.86) started and went five innings, allowing two hits and fanning four. LHP Denny Roman (1.66), RHP Dante Mendoza (1.26), RHP Cristian Charle (1.62) and RHP Jack Hartman (0.00) each pitched a scoreless inning of relief. CF Sergio Campana (.189) went 2 for 5 with two runs scored. SS Tsung-Che Cheng (.246) was 1 for 5 with a triple. RF Rodolfo Nolasco (.183) went 1 for 5 with an RBI.
