Pirates farm report for May 1, 2022: Ji-hwan Bae’s leadoff homer helps lift Indy to victory

INDIANAPOLIS (Triple-A, 13-10) beat Iowa (Cubs), 3-1. CF Ji-hwan Bae (.254) led off the game with his third home run of the year. RF Bligh Madris (.243) was 2 for 2, including a double. DH Travis Swaggerty (.169) was 1 for 4. SS Rodolfo Castro (.246) was 0 for 4 with two strikeouts. Indy managed just five hits. RHP Osvaldo Bido (2.41) allowed one run on one hit with three strikeouts and four walks in 3.2 innings. LHP Cam Vieaux (2-0, 2.25) allowed one hit with four strikeouts in 3 1/3 innings to earn the win in relief. RHP Yerry De Los Santos (1.13) got the save after striking out all three batters he faced in the ninth.

Next: Tuesday vs. Louisville (Reds), 6:35 p.m.

ALTOONA (Double-A, 9-12) dropped a 4-1 decision to Akron (Guardians). RF Connor Scott (.351) was 1 for 4 with an RBI. SS Liover Peguero (.338) was 2 for 3 with a walk. CF Lolo Sanchez (.296) went 2 for 4 with a double. 2B Nick Gonzales (.203) was 0 for 4 with two strikeouts. RHP Carmen Mlodzinski (0-2, 4.87) allowed three runs (two earned) on five hits with one walk and seven strikeouts in five innings and took the loss.

Next: Tuesday at Erie (Tigers), 12:35 p.m.

GREENSBORO (High-A, 8-13) edged Rome (Braves), 7-6. CF Matt Gorski (.269) homered in the top of the eighth inning for the winning run. C Endy Rodriguez (.263) was 3 for 5, including a two-run homer. 1B Ernny Ordonez (.219) was 2 for 4 with two RBIs. SS Dariel Lopez (.186) also hit a two-run homer. RHP Sean Sullivan (3.77) allowed three runs on three hits with four strikeouts in four innings, earning a no-decision. RHP Cameron Junker (1-0, 2.70) tossed one inning of relief and earned the win after allowing three runs on one hit.

BRADENTON (Low-A, 13-8) won 5-4 in a walk-off in the 10th inning over Dunedin (Blue Jays). LF Luke Brown (.278) singled to center for the game-winning RBI. DH Brenden Dixon (.241) was 3 for 4 with three RBIs. RF Rodolfo Nolasco (.172) also knocked in a run. RHP Joelvis Del Rosario (5.52) started and allowed one earned run on three hits with three strikeouts and two walks in five innings. RHP Carols Lomeli (2-0, 2.25) allowed one hit and two walks in two scoreless innings of relief and earned the win.
