Pirates farm report for June 4, 2022: Oneil Cruz hits 8th homer in Indy loss

INDIANAPOLIS (Triple-A, 26-26) gave up three runs in the bottom of the seventh and lost to Omaha (Royals), 7-6. SS Oneil Cruz (.223) went 2 for 4 with a lead-off home run, his eighth. DH Bligh Madris (.265) was 2 for 4 with a homer, his fifth. 2B Hoy Park (.220) was 1 for 3 and hit a three-run homer, his second. LHP Zach Matson (7.71) started and gave up two runs on four hits, including a homer, in two innings. LHP Blake Weiman (4.05) pitched three scoreless innings of relief, allowing one hit. RHP Hunter Stratton (1-2, 4.74) took the loss, giving up three runs on three hits and a walk with three strikeouts in one inning.

Next: Sunday at Omaha (Royals), 6:05 p.m.

ALTOONA (Double-A, 24-26) stumped Bowie (Orioles), 5-3. C Blake Sabol (.319) went 2 for 4 with a triple, a home run, his sixth, three runs scored and three RBIs. RF Matt Gorski (.324) was 2 for 3 with two RBIs. CF Connor Scott (.287) went 1 for 3 with a triple. RHP Luis Ortiz (2-2, 4.53) started and went 5.2 innings, allowing two runs on two hits and two walks with seven strikeouts. LHP Tyler Samaniego (0.00) got the final four outs for his second save.

Next: Sunday vs. Bowie (Orioles), 6 p.m.

GREENSBORO (High-A, 21-28) was downed by Wilmington (Nationals), 5-2. RHP Nick Garcia (3.79) started and went 5.1 innings, allowing one run on four hits and a walk with five strikeouts. RHP Jack Carey (2-4, 4.21) pitched 2.2 innings of relief, allowing three runs, two earned, on two hits and a walk to take the loss.1B Abrahan Gutierrez (.267) went 2 for 4 with a home run, his fourth. 3B Dariel Lopez (.223) went 1 for 3 with a double and a walk. LF Ernny Ordonez (.192) went 1 for 4 with a double and three strikeouts.

Next: Sunday vs. Wilmington (Nationals), 2 p.m.

BRADENTON (Low-A, 22-28) split a doubleheader with Lakeland (Tigers). In the first game, a 3-0 Bradenton win, RHP Po-Yu Chen (1-4, 5.17) made an outstanding start, allowing two hits and one walk with seven strikeouts in five innings. LHP Joe Jacques (0.00) worked the final two innings to earn his first save. 1B Jase Bowen (.243) went 2 for 4 with a pair of RBIs. 3B Brenden Dixon (.234) was 1 for 4 with a double. SS Deivis Nadal (.318) went 1 for 3 with a walk and scored twice.

In the second game, a 2-1 Marauders loss, RHP Carlos Jimenez (1-4, 3.18) started and went five innings, striking out five and allowing three walks and three hits, including a home run. LHP Denny Roman (1.42) pitched a perfect sixth. C Grant Koch (.308) went 2 for 3 with an RBI. 2B Mike Jarvis (.235) and Bowen were each 1 for 3 with a double.
