Pirates farm report for June 22, 2022: 5 Indy pitchers combine on 5-hit shutout

INDIANAPOLIS (Triple-A, 34-32) blanked Memphis (Cardinals), 2-0, as five pitchers combined on a five-hit shutout. RHP Osvaldo Bido (4.86) started and allowed one hit in four innings with four strikeouts. LHP Zach Matson (7.20) pitched two scoreless innings of relief. LHP Joe Jacques (1-1, 16.20), RHP Hunter Stratton (4.88) and RHP Austin Brice (3.04) each pitched a scoreless frame. Brice earned his fifth save. 3B Josh Bissonette (.231) went 1 for 3 with a double and two RBIs. DH Josh VanMeter, rehabbing a broken finger, went 1 for 4. SS Kevin Newman (groin) and 1B Yoshi Tsutsugo (back), also in Indy on rehab assignments, did not play.

Next: Thursday vs. Memphis (Cardinals), 7:05 p.m.

ALTOONA (Double-A, 31-34) lost to New Hampshire (Blue Jays), 5-4. RHP JC Flowers (3.18) gave up a run in the ninth to take the loss. RF Lolo Sanchez (.252) went 3 for 4 with a double. LF Matt Gorski (.292) doubled as a pinch-hitter and stole his seventh base. 3B Jared Triolo (.269) went 1 for 4 and stole home. RHP Luis Ortiz (5.03) started and went five innings, giving up two runs on five hits, including a home run, and striking out seven.

Next: Thursday at New Hampshire (Blue Jays), 7:05 p.m.

GREENSBORO (High-A, 27-37) smashed Asheville (Astros), 9-2. RHP Justin Meis (1-1, 10.80) of Bethel Park started and worked six scoreless innings, allowing three hits and two walks and striking out eight. RHP Cameron Junker (3.24) pitched two scoreless innings of relief. 3B Dariel Lopez (.247) went 2 for 4 with a homer, his ninth. CF Hudson Head (.220) was 1 for 4 with a three-run homer, his third. LF Endy Rodriguez (.260) went 2 for 5 with two doubles and an RBI. RF Sammy Siani (.241) was 2 for 4 with an RBI.

Next: Thursday vs. Asheville (Astros), 6:30 p.m.

BRADENTON (Low-A, 29-35) doubled up Dunedin (Blue Jays), 4-2. RHP Joelvis Del Rosario (3.33) started and went six innings, allowing two runs on five hits with three strikeouts. LHP Mitchell Miller (1-0, 9.00) pitched two scoreless innings of relief to earn the win. RHP Dante Mendoza (1.54) worked a scoreless ninth for his second save. LF Randy Romero (.207) and RF Jasiah Dixon (.571) each went 3 for 4 with an RBI and a stolen base. CF Jase Bowen (.272) was 1 for 4 with a double and two RBIs. 3B Mike Jarvis (.239) went 2 for 4 with a double.
