Pirates farm report for June 17, 2022: Aaron Shackelford homers twice for Curve

INDIANAPOLIS (Triple-A, 31-31) held off Gwinnett (Braves), giving up two runs in the ninth but winning 5-4. DH Bligh Madris (.309) went 3 for 5 with a double and two RBIs. CF Jared Oliva (.226) was 2 for 4 with three runs scored. C Carter Bins (.200) went 2 for 4 and drove in a pair of runs. RHP Jerad Eickhoff (4-3, 4.84) started and went 5.2 innings, allowing one run on five hits with six strikeouts. RHP Austin Brice (3.20) worked the final two innings, giving up two runs, one earned, with three strikeouts.

Next: Saturday at Gwinnett (Braves), 6:05 p.m.

ALTOONA (Double-A, 30-31) clobbered Erie (Tigers), 14-3. 2B Aaron Shackelford (.247) went 2 for 5 with two homers, his 10th and 11th, and five RBIs. 1B Matt Gorski (.293) went 3 for 4 with a 460-foot homer, his 21st of the season across all levels, tied for the most in minor league baseball. RF Lolo Sanchez (.250) went 2 for 5 with a homer, his fourth. LF Matthew Fraizer (.211) went 2 for 5 with a double and two RBIs. CF Connor Scott (.272) also had two hits, going 2 for 4. RHP Carmen Mlodzinski (4.60) started and recorded two outs, giving up two runs on three hits, including a homer. RHP Travis MacGregor (4-1, 3.60) relieved him and went 3.1 innings, allowing no runs on two hits with five strikeouts to earn the win. LHP Nick Dombkowski (4.05) worked four innings, giving up a run on three hits with five whiffs.

Next: Saturday vs. Erie (Tigers), 6 p.m.

GREENSBORO (High-A, 24-35) was embarrassed by Hudson Valley (Yankees), 22-2. RHP Justin Meis (0-1, 108.00) of Bethel Park started and started and recorded two outs, giving up five runs on four hits, including two home runs. Two Greensboro relievers also gave up five runs. 3B Claudio Finol (9.00) pitched the ninth inning, allowing one hit, a solo homer. 2B Yoyner Fajardo (.283) went 1 for 4 with a two-run homer, his fourth. CF Sammy Siani (.235) went 2 for 4 with a double. C Abrahan Gutierrez (.251) also went 2 for 4. Greensboro was scheduled to play a doubleheader Friday, but one game was postponed until Saturday.

BRADENTON (Low-A, 27-34) was handled by Fort Myers (Twins), 8-3. RHP Po-Yu Chen (1-5, 5.06) started and allowed five runs on six hits, including a homer, in five innings. He struck out seven. DH Jase Bowen (.264) went 2 for 4 with two RBIs. LF Jasiah Dixon (.333) and 2B Mike Jarvis (.238) each went 1 for 3 with a run scored.
