Pirates farm report for June 12, 2021: Oneil Cruz homers again as Altoona splits DH

INDIANAPOLIS (Triple-A, 17-17) rolled to an 8-1 win over Nashville (Brewers). SS Cole Tucker (.239) was 3 for 3 with a home run and three RBIs. RF Troy Stokes Jr. (.208) was 1 for 4 with a walk and two RBIs. 3B Hunter Owen (.171) also knocked in two runs. In his first game this season, CF Jared Oliva was 0 for 4 with a walk and two strikeouts. RHP Max Kranick (1-1, 3.60) tossed five scoreless innings, allowing one hit with nine strikeouts to earn the win.

Next: Sunday at Nashville (Brewers), 3:05 p.m.

ALTOONA (Double-A, 21-13) split a doubleheader with Akron (Indians). The Curve won a makeup game, 3-2.

SS Oneil Cruz (.305) smacked his eighth home run in the fifth inning for the game-winning run. He finished the game 3 for 3 with a double. DH Canaan Smith-Njigba (.233) and C Arden Pabst (.186) also knocked in runs. RHP Osvaldo Bido (2-0, 2.30) allowed two runs on six hits with four strikeouts in five innings and earned the win.

Akron defeated Altoona, 4-3. 1B Mason Martin (.236) was 2 for 3. RF Cal Mitchell (.282), CF Jonah Davis (.173) and Pabst had RBIs. LHP Trey McGough (0-2, 3.71) allowed four runs on four hits with four strikeouts and took the loss.

Next: Sunday vs. Akron (Indians), 6 p.m.

GREENSBORO (High A, 19-16) scored twice in the top of the 10th inning to defeat Hickory (Rangers), 7-5. RF Matt Gorski (.221) hit a two-run homer to seal the win. CF Matthew Fraizer (.344) was 3 for 5 with two RBIs. DH Lolo Sanchez (.279) and LF Fabricio Macias (.289) each had two hits. RHP Oliver Garcia (2-0, 2.40) threw three hitless innings of relief with five strikeouts to earn the win.

Next: Sunday at Hickory (Rangers), 3 p.m.

BRADENTON (Low A, 23-12) defeated Daytona (Reds), 8-5. The Marauders took control with a five-run third inning. 3B Alexander Mojica (.202) was 2 for 4 with four RBIs. 2B Jace Bowen (.268) also knocked in two runs. DH Sammy Siani (.216) belted a solo home run, his fourth of the season. LHP Nick Garcia (3-1, 2.95) allowed one run on one hit with three strikeouts and a walk in four innings to earn the win.
