Pirates farm report for July 29, 2021: Chase Murray’s walk-off homer lifts Grasshoppers to victory

INDIANAPOLIS (Triple-A, 34-39) lost 3-2 to St. Paul (Twins) on a walk-off in the 10th inning. LHP Steven Brault (1.64) allowed one run on one hit with one walk and one strikeout in four innings in a rehab start. 1B T.J. Rivera (.244) hit a two-run home run in the eighth inning for the Indians. C Taylor Davis (.270) had two hits. 2B Tucupita Marcano (.000) was 0 for 4 in his second game with the Indians after being acquired from the Padres in the Adam Frazier trade earlier this week. RHP Shea Spitzbarth (3-2, 1.41) took the loss after allowing one unearned run on one hit with two walks and two strikeouts in 1 2/3 innings.

Next: Friday at St. Paul (Twins), 8:05 p.m.

ALTOONA (Double-A, 41-31) edged Harrisburg (Nationals), 7-6. DH Ji-hwan Bae (.278) was 2 for 4 with a two-run home run. CF Daniel Amaral (.245) also smacked a two-run homer. SS Connor Kaiser (.169) hit a solo home run. 2B Diego Castillo (.275), playing his second game with the Curve after being acquired from the Yankees in the Clay Holmes trade Monday, was 1 for 3 with an RBI, his 33rd of the season. LF Jack Suwinski (.143) was 0 for 3 in his second game with the Curve since joining the team in the Adam Frazier trade. RHP Shea Murray (3-0, 3.38) picked up the win after allowing one run on two hits in one inning of relief. LHP Omar Cruz (3.90), who retired the first 15 batters he faced, allowed five runs on seven hits with two strikeouts in a no-decision.

Next: Friday vs. Harrisburg (Nationals), 7 p.m.

GREENSBORO (High A, 46-29) defeated Winston-Salem (White Sox), 9-8, on a walk-off. RF Matt Gorski (.205) doubled, and then LF Chase Murray (.325) hit a two-run walk-off home run to seal the win in the bottom of the ninth. DH Liover Peguero (.246) hit his seventh home run of the season. SS Andres Alvarez (.231), C Blake Sabol (.364) and 1B Will Matthiessen (.188) also homered. 3B Jared Triolo (.293) knocked in his 51st run of the season. RHP Domingo Gonzalez (4.76) allowed three runs and six hits with nine strikeouts in 5 2/3 innings and got a no-decision. RHP Will Kobos (5-2, 2.67) allowed one run on one hit with one strikeout in one inning to earn the win.

Next: Friday vs. Winston-Salem (White Sox), 6:30 p.m.

BRADENTON (Low A, 44-30) lost 3-1 to Dunedin (Blue Jays). CF Jase Bowen (.196) hit his ninth home run of the season for Bradenton’s lone run. RF Hudson Head (.216) had a double. RHP Eddy Yean (4-2, 5.44) allowed two runs on two hits with two walks and three strikeouts in five innings and was dealt the loss.
