Pirates farm report for Aug. 21, 2021: Cole Tucker homers in Indianapolis win

INDIANAPOLIS (Triple-A, 45-49) held on to beat Toledo (Tigers), 5-4. SS Cole Tucker (.232) went 1 for 3 and hit his sixth home run, a solo shot in the seventh. 3B Hunter Owen (.234) went 1 for 4 with a homer, his 14th. CF Jared Oliva (.234) went 2 for 4 with a walk, an RBI and his sixth stolen base. C Taylor Davis (.274) was 1 for 4 and scored twice. RHP Beau Sulser (4.55) started and went five innings, surrendering three runs on five hits with three walks and three strikeouts. LHP Joe Jacques (3-1, 4.12) pitched 1.2 innings of scoreless relief to earn the win. RHP Keury Mella gave up one run in 2.1 innings to record the save, fanning three.

Next: Sunday at Toledo (Tigers), 4:05 p.m.

ALTOONA (Double-A, 50-43) was held to four hits in a 7-1 loss to Somerset (Yankees). SS Diego Castillo (.277) had two of them, going 2 for 4. RF Jack Suwinski (.240) was 1 for 3 with an RBI. 1b Mason Martin (.253) was 1 for 4 with a double. LHP Omar Cruz (2-3, 3.88) was tagged for six runs, five earned, on 10 hits in five innings. RHP Steven Jennings (5.96) pitched two innings of scoreless relief.

Next: Sunday vs. Somerset (Yankees), 6 p.m.

GREENSBORO (High A, 59-36) was one-hit and blown out by Bowling Green (Rays), 10-0. 2B Nick Gonzales (.288) had the lone hit. He went 1 for 4 with a double, his 16th of the season. RHP Carmen Mlodzinski (2-3, 3.20) gave up four runs on four hits, including a pair of home runs, in two innings. He walked two and struck out two.

Next: Sunday vs. Bowling Green (Rays), 2 p.m.

BRADENTON (Low A, 58-34) was outslugged by Clearwater (Phillies), 7-6. C Kyle Wilkie (.323) went 3 for 3 with a walk and three runs scored. CF Jase Bowen (.212) went 2 for 5 with two doubles and three RBIs. 1B Ernny Ordonez (.253) was 1 for 4 with a walk and two RBIs. RHP Jared Jones (3.59) started and allowed four runs on two hits and four walks in 3.2 innings. He struck out six. RHP Justin Meis (0-1, 2.84) gave up two runs, one earned, on two hits and a walk in the eighth inning to take the loss.
