Pirates farm report for April 28, 2022: Bradenton wins on walk-off inside-the-park homer

INDIANAPOLIS (Triple-A, 10-10) was beaten by Iowa (Cubs), 7-3. RHP Max Kranick (3.86) started and pitched effectively, giving up one unearned run on one hit and one walk with two striekouts in three innings. Three relievers – RHP Hunter Stratton (7.00) LHP Nathan Kirby (1.69) and RHP Austin Brice (3.60) – gave up two runs apiece. 1B Mason Martin (.319) went 1 for 4 with his fourth homer. C Taylor Davis (.211) went 2 for 4 with an RBI. SS Oneil Cruz (.197) went 1 for 3 with a strikeout.

Next: Friday at Iowa (Cubs), 8:08 p.m.

ALTOONA (Double-A, 9-9) was outslugged by Akron (Guardians), 9-8. RHP Luis Ortiz (2.87) gave up three runs in 3.2 innings, but all were unearned. He fanned six. RHP Bear Bellomy (13.03) got one out and have up four runs on three hits, including a homer. SS Liover Peguero (.359) went 4 for 5 with two doubles and a home run, his third. 1B Aaron Shackelford (.314) went 1 for 5 with a three-run homer, also his third. DH lolo Sanchez (.326), 2B Andreas Alvarez (.259) and CF Matthew Fraizer (.185) each had two hits.

Next: Friday at Akron (Guardians), 7:05 p.m.

GREENSBORO (High-A, 7-11) was obliterated by Rome (Braves), 11-0. RHP Santiago Florez (0-1, 11.45) started and gave up six runs on seven hits, including a homer, in 3.1 innings. 2B Yoyner Fajardo (.333) went 2 for 4 with two stole bases. LF Endy Rodriguez (.243) was 1 for 4 with a double. The Grasshoppers struck out 16 times.

Next: Friday at Rome (Braves), 7 p.m.

BRADENTON (Low-A, 11-7) beat Dunedin (Blue Jays), 3-2, on a two-run walk-off inside-the-park home run by 2B Brenden Dixon (.213). Dixon hit a high fly ball off the top of the center-field fence. Dunedin CF Dasan Brown sliding to try to make the catch gave Dixon the time to round the bases. SS Tsung-Che Cheng (.294) went 2 for 4 with a double and an RBI. RHP Yunior Thibo (2-0, 4.76) got the win, working the top of the 11th and allowing only the automatic runner on second to score.

Next: Friday vs. Dunedin (Blue Jays), 6:30 p.m.
