Pirates farm report for April 22, 2022: Max Kranick takes loss in rehab start

INDIANAPOLIS (Triple-A, 7-8) lost 4-3 to Columbus (Guardians). RHP Max Kranick (0-1, 10.80), rehabbing a forearm injury, started and went 1.2 innings, giving up two runs on three hits, including a pair of home runs, with two strikeouts. SS Oneil Cruz (.200), hitting in the leadoff spot, went 2 for 5 with an RBI and a stolen base. C Michael Perez (.182) went 2 for 3 and drove in a run. CF Jared Oliva (.259) was 2 for 4 with a run scored.

Next: Saturday vs. Columbus (Guardians), 6:35 p.m.

ALTOONA (Double-A, 6-7) held on for an 8-7 victory over New Hampshire (Blue Jays). DH Aaron Shackelford (.364) went 1 for 2 with a two-run homer, his second. 2B Tucupita Marcano (.265) went 1 for 4 with a solo homer, his first. RF Jack Suwinski (.333) went 2 for 4. CF Matthew Fraizer (.167) went 2 for 3 with a double. RHP Luis Ortiz (1-0, 3.75) started and got the win, giving up two runs on four hits and two walks with six strikeouts in five innings. RHP Will Kobos (13.50) was touched up for four runs in 0.2 innings as New Hampshire scored five runs in the top of the ninth. RHP Enmanuel Mejia (7.20) got the final out to earn the save.

Next: Saturday vs. New Hampshire (Blue Jays), 4 p.m.

GREENSBORO (High-A, 4-9) was beaten by Aberdeen (Orioles), 7-4. RHP Jack Carey (0-2, 5.63) took the loss, allowing three runs on four hits in three innings of relief. RHP Santiago Florez started and gave up two runs on two hits and a walk in one inning. CF Matt Gorski (.300) went 1 for 4 and hit his fourth homer. RF Hudson Head (.286) went 3 for 4 with two runs scored. DH Henry Davis (.349) went 2 for 3 with a double and an RBI.

Next: Saturday vs. Aberdeen (Orioles), 6:30 p.m.

BRADENTON (Low-A, 8-5) beat Daytona (Reds) 4-1. The Marauders scored three runs in the top of the second inning and added an insurance run in the fourth to beat Daytona. LF Luke Brown went 2 for 3 while driving in two runs and 1B Carlos Gonzalez drew a walk that scored a run. Starting RHP Justin Meis had a strong outing, allowing no runs on two hits while striking out 10 in five innings to earn the win. RHP Carlos Lomeli allowed no runs or hits while striking out two to get the save.

Next: Saturday vs. Daytona (Reds), 7:05 p.m.
