Pirates farm report for April 21, 2022: Liover Peguero collects 5 hits in Altoona sweep

INDIANAPOLIS (Triple-A, 7-7) was clobbered by Columbus (Guardians), 12-5. RHP Jerad Eickhoff (1-1, 8.18) gave up four runs on four hits and two walks with seven strikeouts in 4.2 innings. RHP Brad Case (11.12) was lit up for seven runs on seven hits with two walks in 1.1 innings. LF Anthony Alford (.25), rehabbing a wrist injury, homered for the second straight day. He went 1 for 2 with two walks. CF Travis Swaggerty (.231) went 2 for 4 with his first homer, a two-run shot. 2B Rodolfo Castro (.308) went 1 for 3 with a double, two RBIs and a stolen base.

Next: Friday vs. Columbus (Guardians), 7:05 p.m.

ALTOONA (Double-A, 5-7) swept a doubleheader from New Hampshire (Blue Jays). The Curve took the opener, 5-2. 1B Will Mathiessen (.240) homered for the second straight day. He went 1 for 3. SS Liover Peguero (.317) and DH Jack Suwinski (.316) each went 2 for 3 with a double. RHP Carmen Mlodzinski (.715) started and gave up two runs on two hits with five walks in 3.2 innings. RHP JC Flowers (1-1, 3,00) got the win, allowing no runs on three hits with three strikeouts in 3.1 innings.

The Curve rolled to a sweep with an 11-2 win in the second game. Peguero went 3 for 4 with a double and three RBIs. Suwinski went 2 for 3 and scored three times. DH Blake Sabol (.333) was 1 for 4 with a homer, his second. 1B Aaron Shackelford (.350) went 2 for 3 with a three-run homer and a stolen base. RHP Mike Burrows (1-0, 1.38) started and got the win, giving up two runs on four hits and two walks with six strikeouts in five innings. RHP Tahnaj Thomas (1.8) worked two scoreless innings of relief.

Next: Friday vs. New Hampshire (Blue Jays), 6 p.m.

GREENSBORO (High-A, 4-8) was throttled by Aberdeen (Orioles), 9-4. RHP Domingo Gonzalez (0-2, 14.40) started and was touched up for six runs on nine hits, including a homer, walking two and fanning five in four innings. SS Francisco Acuna (.308) went 1 for 4 with a two-run home run, his first. DH Henry Davis (.325) went 2 for 3. CF Matt Gorski (.306) went 1 for 3 with an RBI and a run scored.

Next: Friday vs. Aberdeen (Orioles), 6:30 p.m.

BRADENTON (Low-A, 7-5) was doubled up by Daytona (Reds), 4-2. 1B Jacob Gonzalez (.472) went 1 for 4 with a two-run homer, his third. 2B Jase Bowen (.205) was 1 for 2 with a double and two walks. RHP Valentin Linarez (0-2, 15.43) started and gave up two runs on one hit and four walks in 2.2 innings. LHP Nick Dombkowski (2.45) gave up one run on five hits with six strikeouts in 3.1 innings.
