The Pittsburgh Pirates had another round of layoffs on Friday, this time letting go 15 members of the baseball operations staff in a restructuring of the department, a source confirmed to the Tribune-Review.

The employees were informed they would not be involved in the organizational plans following this season, so they were let go now to have more time to seek employment elsewhere. They will be paid through Oct. 31 and receive benefits through the remainder of the calendar year. The Pirates laid off more than two dozen members of their business operations on Thursday, also paying them through the end of October.

Neither amateur scouting director Joe DelliCarri nor minor league director Larry Broadway were affected by the layoffs and will remain on general manager Ben Cherington’s staff, as reported by The Athletic. DelliCarri worked closely with Cherington on the five-round MLB Draft earlier this month.

The Pirates also have committed to paying their minor league players through the end of July. They had previously committed to paying them through the end of this month and are expected to stretch that through the remainder of the season.
