The Pittsburgh Pirates waived right-handed pitcher Ashton Goudeau, clearing room on their 40-man roster before Thursday’s Rule 5 Draft.
The Baltimore Orioles claimed Goudeau off waivers Monday, according to an MLB.com report.

The Pirates now have 38 players on their 40-man roster. If the Pirates pick an unprotected player in the Rule 5 Draft, they must pay $100,000 to their team and keep them on the 26-man major-league roster for the entire season.
Goudeau’s stint with the Pirates was short-lived, as he was claimed off waivers from the Colorado Rockies on Nov. 25. Goudeau appeared in four games for the Rockies last season, allowing seven earned runs on 15 hits and two walks in 8 1/3 innings.
To make room for Goudeau on the 40-man roster, the Pirates designated former first-round pick Will Craig for assignment. Craig has since cleared waivers and was outrighted to Triple-A Indianapolis.
