The Pittsburgh Pirates claimed left-handed reliever Aaron Fletcher off waivers from the Seattle Mariners on Sunday, bringing their roster to the 40-man maximum.

Fletcher, 26, was 0-0 with a 12.38 ERA and 2.75 WHIP, nine strikeouts and no walks in eight innings the past two seasons with Seattle.

The 6-foot, 220-pounder was a 14th-round pick by Washington in 2018 out of the University of Houston.

He spent most of last season with Triple-A Tacoma, where he went 4-0 with a 3.47 ERA and 1.36 WHIP over 49 1/3 innings in 39 appearances. He averaged 8.2 strikeouts and 2.6 walks per nine innings.

Fletcher was 5-4 with a 2.09 ERA in 2019, when he pitched on four teams across three levels of the minors. He was selected to the Arizona Fall League Rising Stars after striking out 15 and not allowing a run in 9 1/3 innings.
