As the Pittsburgh Pirates prepare for spectators to return to PNC Park for home games this season, they announced numerous health and safety protocols and stadium policy changes for fans to follow.
The protocols follow recommendations from the CDC, Allegheny Health Network and MLB during the covid-19 pandemic.
Masks will be required by all fans ages 2 year and older except when actively eating or drinking in the ticketed seat. The Pirates also are requiring all masks have loops over the ears and securely cover the nose and chin. No gaiters, bandanas or vented masks are permitted. Masks also are to be worn at all time at ballpark entrances, in common areas such as concourses, the Riverwalk and restrooms.
Six-foot social distancing will be enforced as fans are permitted to sit only in their purchased seats and relocating is prohibited. Fans also must enter through the gates designated on their tickets.
The Pirates are going cashless at PNC Park, using contactless concessions and merchandising sales. A reverse ATM will be available, which allows fans to convert cash into a pre-paid Mastercard, and using credit and debit cards, as well as Apple or Google Pay is recommended. All food and condiments will be pre-packaged.
